Davos to Strelapass: A sunny breath of fresh air

Mountain funicular to the start of the hike

Davos is internationally famous for the World Economic Forum, but it is also boosts of a vibrant winter sports life. The hike can either begin in the town of Davos Platz through the small woods or after taking the funicular up to the little restaurant and hotel area above the valley in Schatzalp.

Once in Schatzalp, the sun is no longer hindered by the mountains, so you can catch up warm, wintertime rays.

The path to Strelapass offers an unobstructed view of the mountains and direct access to the warmth of the sun. This hike is perfect during the dark, cold days of winter.

View towards the top of the hike

From the top, you can have an amazing view to the neighbouring valleys, including the valley leading to Arosa. Being able to see what is seemingly a completely different area of Switzerland from the summit is amazing and provides the feeling that Switzerland is a puzzle connected by mountains.

After the demanding hike, we lounged in the sun at the alpine restaurant with amazing views surrounding us. We decided to take our time coming back down so that we could enjoy the sunset from Schatzalp. We ended up enjoying a lovely fondue dinner at the restaurant at Schatzalp before taking the funicular back down.
