SBB: Swiss Public Transport Explained

Inter Regio from Engelberg to Luzern

Prior to arriving in Switzerland, I had only traveled on a train once or twice on vacation. I thought I would miss driving; however, I could not be more wrong. It took me a couple of months to figure out the SBB system, but once I figured it out, I realized how genius it was. I am always in awe at how smoothly the connections run. I could never imagine traveling in any other way now. You can get to every nook and cranny of Switzerland via Swiss transport. Swiss transport is so much more than trains; it includes buses, trams, funiculars, gondolas, and boats!

In this tutorial, I will go through the process of purchasing a ticket on the SBB and how to navigate the app. Additionally, I will go through the different inclusive ticket and travel card offers.

The trains offer excellent comfort for traveling. I often jump on the trains just to study with a view. I now miss the conveniences of the train when I am traveling by car. On the train, you can work, grab a coffee, eat your lunch, and access a bathroom all without delaying your arrival time. It is extremely clean, safe, and practical, all while saving the environment that you enjoy the view of by not using extra gas in a private vehicle.
